"The Culture Gap" by Brink Lindsey

A good essay about the economic cost of behaving badly and the premium for behaving well.

My parents were right. Work hard in school, do all your homework, get as much education as you can and you will do OK. Generally, I have found the more education one has, the better the opportunities.
Of course, opportunity doesn't automatically mean success. One still has to perform. But at least one gets the chance.
