I understand that this is not unusal in such a stressful situation. When the shooter states that the gun in his right hand "jammed", my bet is that he had simply emptied the gun at the intruder and it would not shoot anymore.

The second interesting thing is that the Miami Herald, which is dead-set against people owning guns, would print the article.
